With regard to linking libraries:

You can either link agaist lwp or pthreads. You do NOT want to do both.

Pthreads looks to be easier in terms of keeping track of libs:

For pthreads:

-lafsauthent -lafsrpc -lpthread

for lwp:

-llwp -lauth -lkauth -lprot and more

So, to summarize:

afsauthent, afsrpc -> pthread

kauth, auth, et al -> lwp
