Based on my previous work, I will extend and improve the ability of the plasticity wave propagation code to enable full-scale three-dimensional simulations of wave propagation in inelastic media on parallel computers. One important item for the future work is to select an appropriate soil plasticity model which represents correctly the main qualitative features of dynamic behavior while remaining mathematically tractable with soil parameters that can be easily estimated. With the material plasticity model well defined, we need to consider the solution techniques and data parallel strategies, since problem size and computational cost associated with large scale nonlinear simulations are often very large.
