The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science solicits
applications for two faculty positions; rank is open and depends on
candidate's experience.  Responsibilities include initiation and supervision
of research programs and instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Applicants should have an earned PhD degree in Computer Science or in a
closely related field.  We seek outstanding and accomplished candidates
in specific areas of research which include computer networks,
mobile computing, and software engineering.  A record of publications in
refereed journals and international conferences is desired.

Screening of applications will begin on December 15 and continue until the
positions are filled.  Positions will commence August 16, 1997.

Washington State University has offered the Ph.D. in computer science
since 1970, and also offers B.S. and M.S. degrees.  The School of EECS
has over forty faculty (approximately eighteen with primary interests in
computer science and engineering) and sixty computer science graduate

university town in the southeast corner of the state; it is about 75
miles south of Spokane and 280 miles south east of Seattle.

Tri-Cities

One faculty position at the assistant professor level is available site at
WSU Tri-Cities in Richland, WA. A Ph.D. in computer science or a closely
related field is required. The successful candidate will contribute to
instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels in computer science
and initiate an active research program. Preferred research areas include
parallel and distributed systems, operating systems, database theory and
software engineering. Industrial experience is desirable. Applicants should
provide a resume and a list of three references including addresses and
phone numbers. the deadline for applications is Dec. 16, 1996. The position
start date is Aug. 16, 1997.
