Robotics

Applications are invited for a tenure track faculty position in robotics.
Candidates should
also have a interest and background in related areas, such as autonomous
agents and other aspects of artificial intelligence, neural networks,
evolutionary computation, kinematics and dynamics or related areas. The
Computer Science department has a strong and widely recognized research
program in robotics and intelligent systems, performing research in such
areas as autonomous robots, robot learning, walking machines, biological
models for robotic systems, and image understanding. The Robotics Research
Laboratory of the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Systems cooperates
closely with the Brain Simulation Laboratory and other laboratories in the
neurosciences. The CS Department is ranked in the top 12 computer science
departments nationally. It offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Candidates
should have a strong research record, a vigorous commitment to teach, and a
strong desire and capability to build a sponsored research program.
Applications consisting of a letter of application and career goals, a
short vita, list of publications and the names of at least three
references should be sent to the search chair: Prof. George Bekey, Computer
Science Department, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA

Graphics

Applications are invited for a tenure track faculty position in computer graphics
and multimedia. Areas of special interest include 3D modeling, animation, and
user interfaces. USC has recently been awarded an NSF Engineering Research
Center, and has established IMSC, the Integrated Multimedia Systems Center, to
perform leading research in computer graphics and visualization; virtual and
augmented reality; visual, aural, and haptic interfaces; and media systems
applications. The candidate will have access to research collaboration and
funding within IMSC, as well as its over 45 corporate sponsors. The CS
Department is ranked in the top computer science departments nationally. It
offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Candidates should have a strong research
record, a vigorous commitment to teach, and a strong desire and capability to
build a sponsored research program. Applications consisting of a letter of
application and career goals, a short vita and a short list of key publications
