Kaethe,
I've already sent the following to Arvind and Bill Tetzlaff, but
you wanted to know my preferences also. The following is the
relevent portion of my message to Arvind.

--- begin excerpt ---

I was impressed with the environment IBM has managed to create
in its research division. The people I talked to seemed very
motivated in their research and to how it affected IBM. All
the managers with whom I interacted seemed sincere in wanting
their group members to be having fun while working on interesting
projects. Additionally, mobility within groups was emphasized
by many of the people.

You wanted to know my thoughts on the various groups:

After reviewing my notes, I'm most interested in your group and
Bill Tetzlaff's. Roch Guerin's group may be a better fit for
my background, but I'd like the challenge of trying something
new. Peter Hortensis's group appeared to be very tightly coupled
with the product groups; which I'm currently leaning away from
though I think I might like the time pressures which they must
encounter when trying to meet product deadlines.

I'll try to break things down further, but the accuracy of the
following depends on several factors. During some of the interviews,
we talked about the research division in general while in others
we talked specifically about a certain project or two. On a couple
of points, my notes were a little unclear.

With those qualifying statements --
Within your group, I'm most interested in the work that Rich La Maire
and Srinivasan Seshan are doing. In the System Technologies group, I
was intrigued by the discussions with Gerry Bozman and Guerney Hunt.
