UNIVERSITY OF YORK

Senior Lectureship in Computer Science

Applications are invited for a senior lectureship in this
Computer Science Department (rated at the highest level in the
last research assessment exercise carried out by UK's higher
education funding council). We seek candidates with a strong
computer science background who can contribute to the teaching of
core CS topics such as software engineering, digital electronics,
programming, networks and distributed systems etc. The
candidates must also have a research track record and, ideally,
be able to contribute to one of the Departments existing research
groups: Advanced Computer Architectures, Artificial Intelligence,
Bioinformatics, High Integrity Systems Engineering,
Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Management and Information
Systems, Programming Languages and Systems, and Real-Time
Systems. We are particularly interested in researchers who can
contribute to the HCI group (their current activities include
specification and analysis, graphics, multimedia and multimodal
interaction techniques). We seek candidates who can complement
and consolidate the Department's research efforts through
attracting research income and producing high quality published
output.

The posts are available immediately on the Senior Lecturer Scale.

Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Alan Burns (Head of
the Department of Computer Science), 01904 432779,
alan.burns@cs.york.ac.uk.

Six copies of applications with full curriculum vitae and the
names of three referees should be sent by 10 July 2000 to the
Personnel Officer, University of York, Heslington, York YO10 5DD,
UK. Applicants should consult the further particulars which are
available from http://www.cs.york.ac.uk/~burns/partics.html.
Applicants should quote reference number 3026.
