Subject: Come to ASPLOS-IX in Cambridge MA in mid November!
Date: Fri, 29 Sep 2000 17:58:27 -0700
From: Boon Ang <boonang@spica.hpl.hp.com>

Dear colleague,

The organizing committee of ASPLOS-IX is pleased to announce the
ASPLOS-IX conference to be held in Cambridge, Massachusetts from
Nov 12 to Nov 15, 2000.

For further information, please visit the ASPLOS-IX web-site at:

    http://foothill.lcs.mit.edu/asplos-ix

An advanced program is available, both in html and pdf forms from that
page. Pre-registration deadline is Nov 3, 2000. The conference
hotel, Royal Sonesta Hotel, has agreed to hold a limited number of
rooms for conference attendees until Oct 18, 2000.

As many of you know, ASPLOS is a multi-disciplinary conference,
cross-fertilizing research in areas of hardware, architecture,
compilers, operating systems, networking, and applications. It has
captured some of the major computer systems innovations of the past
10-15 years (e.g., RISC and VLIW processors, small and large-scale
multiprocessors, clusters and networks-of-workstations, optimizing
compilers, RAID and network-storage system designs). Today such
multi-disciplinary research is becoming even more important, as
boundaries between hardware/software and local/network computing blur,
as the form-factors and capabilities of computing devices becomes ever
more varied, and as the user-base and applications expand
exponentially.

Like its predecessors, the ninth ASPLOS conference focuses on
groundbreaking multi-disciplinary research. In addition, the program
includes research papers on non-traditional topics that emphasize the
multi-disciplinary aspects of their work. The committee is also
pleased to again have a Wild & Crazy Idea session hosted by Kuby,
which was a great hit at the last ASPLOS conference.

ASPLOS-IX will be held in the historic and academic town of Cambridge,
Massachusets, home to premier institutions like MIT and Harvard. The
Royal Sonesta Hotel, where the conference will be held, is on the
banks of Charles river, and enjoys a spendid view of Boston which lies
just across the river.

So come to ASPLOS-IX, hear about recent cutting edge systems research
innovations, air your views at the Wild & Crazy ideas session, and
enjoy the historic Boston/Cambridge area, the birth place of modern
America and college town USA.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Regards,

 Boon S Ang
