-------------------------------------------- BINARY DISTRIBUTION PACKAGES FOR ANDREW6.3 -------------------------------------------- This directory contains the binary distribution packages for the Andrew User Interface System release in C (Andrew6.3). The following files and subdirectories are included herein: README This file hp700_80 Hewlett-Packard 720 (HPUX 8.05) rs_aix32 IBM RS/6000 (AIX 3.2) pmax_ul4 DECstation 3100 PMAX (Ultrix 4.2) sun4_41 SUN Sparcstation (SunOS 4.1.3) sun4_51 SUN Sparcstation (Solaris 2.x) linux Linux (Slackware 2.1) Each distribution is divided into packages. This allows the user to pick up only that portion of Andrew that they plan to use. A "-full" package is also available that includes the binaries of the major portions of Andrew. Packages available in this distribution are: wp - for those wanting a basic word-processor doc - documentation only (help files, documentation and various sample files) src - for Source Code developers mail - for users wanting the MIME-compatible mail interface full - all of the above plus more See the file pub/AUIS/bin-dist/full.list for a listing of applications included in the full distribution. Andrew is packed using the GNU `gzip' compression program. Source code available on most sites which distribute GNU software. Sources are also available in the file pub/AUIS/util/gzip-1.2.3.tar on ftp.andrew.cmu.edu. Some of the Andrew packages require that other components are installed prior to use, for example: wp - no requirements src - wp package installed first doc - wp package installed first mail - wp packages installed first full - no requirements Note To Linux-System Users: The "-dev" package available in the Linux distribution requires that you first have "-src" and "-wp" installed. Other system types use the "-full" package which can be used alone as it already contains both "-src" and "-wp" as well as "-mail" and "-doc". In each system sub-directory, there is a README file that provides detailed installation instructions. The package naming convention is as follows: auis{version number}{system abbr.}{release level}-{package}.{extension} An example interpretation is: auis63L1-src.tgz This file has binaries for the system type Linux (L), is the first release level (1) source (src) package of Andrew version 6.3. The file is in tar'd gzip'd format (.tgz extension). ---------------------- CONTACT INFORMATION ---------------------- Andrew Consortium School of Computer Science Carnegie Mellon University 5000 Forbes Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15213-3891 Phone: (412) 268-6710 Fax: (412) 268-5571 Email: subscriptions, info, orders ---info-andrew-request@andrew.cmu.edu bug reports ---info-andrew-bugs@andrew.cmu.edu discussion forum ---info-andrew@andrew.cmu.edu Newsgroup: internet.other.info-andrew@andrew.cmu.edu (Andrew formatting) comp.soft-sys.andrew@andrew.cmu.edu (ASCII formatting) Demo: finger @atk.cs.cmu.edu Access: ftp.andrew.cmu.edu: pub/AUIS/ Web: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~AUIS
