I am interested in information on frame grabbers for the 7100/80AV
PowerPC Mac. I intend to use this computer with a three chip video
camera and a Nikon microscope to collect images of rock thin-sections
at magnifications of 40x to 400x. I am trying to produce photographic
(or as close as possible) quality images and am worried the frame
grabber that comes with the 7100/80AV isn't of a high enough quality.
Does anybody know of a third party frame grabber that isn't too
expensive (<US$700-800) and that is better than the one in the Mac
(which is 640x480)? The camera will have 720 or 800 TV lines
resolution and a RGB signal. I have no experience with frame grabbers
and know little of the technical specifications by which to judge
various models, can anybody help with some basic pointers on what
to look for? I will be using Apple's 17" multiscan monitor but am
more worried about resolution of the hard copy images than the image
on the screen.
Thank you in advance if you can help me.
