 The colourspaces FAQ by David Bourgin is no longer being
maintained. It includes several errors and misleading
explanations (IMHO). Instead try the following documents;

coloreq.txt available from wmin.ac.uk in /pub/itrg
and for web browsers from
http://www.wmin.ac.uk/~ajoec1/homepage.html

for general equations and transformations between colour spaces.

ColorFAQ.pdf from elaine.crcg.edu in /pub/doc/color

for a more detailed and chatty explanation of some of the
concepts involved.

Regards, Adrian.
