Computational Intelligence Research Laboratory
Research Assistant/Programmer Position

The Computational Intelligence Research Laboratory (CIRL) of the
University of Oregon is seeking applicants to fill a research
assistantship position to begin in October, 1996. Although contracts are
annual, this position is intended to be permanent, subject to availability
of funds.

The primary duties of the position will be implementing the research ideas
developed at the laboratory and demonstrating their applicability to
problems provided by CIRL's government and industrial sponsors.

A BS or MS in Computer Science is required, although it need not be in
Artificial Intelligence.

Requirements: Extensive experience in C and/or C++ and Unix. Demonstrable
experience showing the ability to develop fast, clean, modifiable
prototypes with minimal supervision. Preference will be given to
candidates with backgrounds that include involvement with the academic
research community, the WWW, GUIs, and Common LISP.

CIRL=BCs research focus is on the basic questions in artificial intelligence
(knowledge representation, reasoning and search). CIRL is located in the
Riverfront Research Park in Eugene, Oregon. Currently there are 3 faculty
and 4 associated graduate students. Additional information is available
