POSITION TITLE:		Consultant/Engineer (Neural Net Consultant)
DURATION:		1 year (full-time hours; no benefits)
LOCATION:		Pittsburgh, PA
AVAILABILITY:		ASAP

POSITION REQUIRES:

 * BS or BA in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, and/or Neural Systems
 * Experience in applying Neural Net techniques to specific applications
 * knowledge of statistical techniques
 * strong report writing skills
 * programming in C, C++; experience with UNIX; PC environment

PROJECT: 

Applied R&D: Develop and apply Neural Net techniques pro-active
diagnostics ("Prognostics") to aircraft Jet Engines

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  This researcher will lead a R&D team to apply neural net techniques to
prognostics to diagnose probable jet engine failures to anticipate and prevent
these events.  S/he will be working under the direction of senior researchers
to implement and conduct extensive computational experiments with alternative
NN models based on commercially available neural net shells. Some programming
will be required to manipulate and process experimental data and upgrade NN
approaches.  If successful, an early field pilot will be installed and
delivered to the customer for experimentation and validation using field data.
