This directory contains two data sets prepared for the use of participants
for the 1994 AAAI Spring Symposium on Artificial Intelligence in Medicine.

* icu-data.tar.Z contains the distribution for an ICU data set (12 hrs.
worth of data on a mechanically ventilated patient with adult respiratory
distress syndrome + a description of the problem domain). Archived using
tar and compressed.

* ICU-Data/ directory contains the same ICU data set in several ascii files.
If you cannot uncompress/untar the archive files, ftp the distribution
from this directory instead.

* diabetes-data.tar.Z contains the distribution for 70 sets of data recorded
on diabetes patients (several weeks' to months' worth of glucose, insulin,
and lifestyle data per patient + a description of the problem domain).
Archived using tar and compressed.

* Diabetes-Data/ directory contains the same diabetes data set in several
ascii files. If you cannot uncompress/untar the archive files, ftp the
distribution from this directory instead.

* A recent copy of the call for papers and an announcement for the AIM-94
Matchmaker Service are also included in this directory.

Downloading instructions (given for icu-data.tar.Z; similar instructions
apply to the other data set):

1. set the ftp type to binary (type 'bin' at the ftp prompt).
2. type 'get icu-data.tar.Z'
3. exit ftp
4. on a Unix system, type 'uncompress icu-data.tar'. This will uncompress
   the tar archive file.
5. Extract the data files from the archive. On a Unix system, type
'tar xvf icu-data.tar'. This will create a new directory named ICU-Data
and extract all data files into that directory. Very occasionally
this may not work; in that case try 'tar xvof' instead of 'tar xvf'.
6. After making sure that the files are correctly extracted, you can
   delete the tar archive file.

In case of difficulties contact uckun@hpp.stanford.edu.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You do not need to have worked with the data at the
time of submitting abstracts. Just tell us what you intend to do with
the data.
