For the record;

1.

Here are the alternatives ...

Coloureq.txt, a document containing equations relating to colour spaces
and colour transforms, available as ASCII text from;

  ftp.wmin.ac.uk

and, if you have a web browser, via;

  http://www.wmin.ac.uk/ITRG/extra.html

We recommend that this doc is read in conjunction with Charles Poynton's
documents, GammaFAQ.pdf and ColorFAQ.pdf for a more complete introduction
to colour systems. They are available from:

  ftp.inforamp.net/pub/users/poynton/doc/Colour/

in Acrobat PDF, PostScript and ASCII text formats. If you have a web
browser, consult Poynton's Gamma and Colour FAQ page;

  http://www.inforamp.net/~poynton/Poynton-colour.html

Please send comments to Charles Poynton (poynton@inforamp.net), Alan
Roberts (Alan.Roberts@rd.bbc.co.uk) or Adrian Ford (ajoec1@wmin.ac.uk)

2.

Following many email's, David Bourgin has acknowledged some problems and
asked for 1 or 2 weeks to post correstions. He has also gone on record
saying that if these are not sufficient then he will pass on the maintainance
of the FAQ to a new party.

The 2 week limit is around about may 17th - if the on-line community feels
that a vote on the matter is appropaite, i would recommend waiting until
that date.

3. At present I am in favour of the documents issued by Charles Poynton as color(sorry colour) faq's with an archive location for exact transforms and example code. The main problem with the current Bourgin document is that, although
adequate for programmers perhaps, it contains errors in some basic colo(u)r
science, errors which have been pointed out on many many occasions.

Regards, adrian.
