A good reference book on the matter I use is Electronic Displays by Sol
Sherr, published by John Wiley and Sons, ISBN 0-471-02941-6. It is
dated by now, but still very useful on background info. It might have
been updated, but I have not tried to find out if it has been by now.
I good resolution for the new year.

Also, I have had good luck with data sheets from the manufacturers.
Also, a very good reference on the matter is in the Photonic Reference
books that they publish. Look for the Photonics Buyer's Guide, as they
have had what you want in them.
