I've had long discussions with Charles about that. He wants to carry on in
Adobe because the Adobe reader is universally available (ie. for DOS, UNIX,
Windows, MAC, sorry if you're not on that list). The Adobe scripts do look
very nice, with subscripts, superscripts, underlines, equations etc, but I
would be happier if there were a standard ASCII version as well. After all,
not every reader has unlimited access to download software.

If you feel strongly that there should be ASCII versions of Charles' FAQs
(they are _extremely_ good, but long) then I suggest you make appropriate
noises to Charles, and see if you can convince him. I don't have the means
to produce ASCII versions of his texts. otherwise I would be happy to post
them.
