Subject: Computer Vision Quality of Results...

When I did my shape from texture work I used around
200 samples from the Brodatz album. I thought at the
time that this "fully tested" the algorithm and was
more thoroughly tested than many other Computer Vision
	techniques.

I wanted to reply to Ramin's comment because of my recent
work, even just running a program on alot of pictures is
insufficient. One project here is a structured light
system to measure the area and volume of the human body.
Since we are starting clinical trials to measure the
surface area of burns (a real problem) we had to report
the system accuracy, reproducibility and resolution -
	measures of the system's quality.

Collaborating with health professionals has been an
enlightening experience. In the health sciences
literature, researchers pay as much attention to
experimental METHODS as to the hypotheses being
tested (algorithms in our lingo). As a consequence,
my recent papers on the structured light system report
accuracy, reproducibility and resolution. We could
probably learn alot by looking at scientific methods
	in other experimental disiplines.
