Subject: Problem Set 10

There were several problems with PS10; I probably didn't catch them all.

Solutions:

In problem 10.1, the constants should be enclosed in triangles, without the
quote marks.

Page 7:

"Depth = 14+6L" should be "Depth = 14+6L, 12 if L=0"

Last sentence of first paragraph: "So, when P2 [NOT P1!!] terminates..."

indentation goof

The solution of problem 10.11 was missing.

Problem set:

Using N in the tables is misleading. Perhaps they should be indexed by L:
0, 1, 2, 3, 10.

There was a table missing in the answer file for 10.6.

Problems 5 and 6 should ask WHY, not just have students parrot, "Well, one
is linear and the other is quadratic."

The "carefully type in" is no longer valid with the new system since
mistakes can be easily corrected: everything's in Edwin now.

PS: Don't flame me for suggesting improvements. They can be implemented
next year if we decide they're worthwhile.
