Educational Testing Service (ETS) is seeking researchers with the following interests
and skills to work in their Natural Language Processing Initiative (NLPI). The NLPI
is a group in ETS's research division who works on the use of NLPI in testing
applications.  Any interested in further information about this position should talk to

Education:

-PhD in Linguistics (with a concentration in computational linguistics), or 
 Computer Science (with a concentration on NLP)
 

NLP Background:

-Interested in and has knowledge of the fields of semantics, lexical semantics,
discourse, and lexicon development/word sense disambiguation work, statistical
methods in NLP.

Job-Related Interests/Skills:

-Interested in NLP applications for education, educational assessment, 
and educational technology
-Interested in solving applied problems - not theoretical in nature
-Good communication and writing skills


Technical Skill/Experience:

-Proficiency in C and/or C++ and knowledge of LISP or PROLOG
-Experience with at least one computer-based parsing program
-Understands technology



General Requirements:

-Not adverse to working on multiple research projects, simultaneously
-Not adverse to working with a 'team'
-Hard working
-Independent
-Flexible
