I believe that ID's new game Quake should solve some of those problems 
with stupid enemies acting like pacmans ghosts.  They hope to have a more 
natural game.  Monsters thinking a bit more.  I have heard (but don't 
quote me on this) that the enemies, if outnumbered or outpowered or hurt, 
will run away and find some friends to help.  They will come back and 
wipe you out.

Bullfrog should have put this technology in Magic Carpet.  The rest of 
the game is amazing, so why not better thinking beings.  Or do they have 
these on the upper levels.  I never got that far yet!
