Marathon (for Macintosh computers) has snipers. In fact, I believe
the third level in the Marathon demo has snipers, so you can try it
out for free. Basically, there are some enemies who are perched on
ledges. When you come in sight, they start hammering you with shots,
without jumping off the ledges. Snipers are mixed with ground troops,
etc. to make very interesting (and difficult) situations.

In network game levels, sniper ledges are provided for human players
as well.
