Togai InfraLogic Leads with the Second Generation of Fuzzy Logic on a Chip
   --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Togai InfraLogic has introduced Fuzzy Computational Acceleration, the second
generation of fuzzy logic hardware. FCA(tm) is the first core cell technology
that enables a VLSI designer to quickly incorporate fuzzy capabilities into the
construction of application specific chips (see Figures 1 & 4. [not supplied in
this text-only version]) A main feature of FCA technology is its fast turn
around time on custom chips which contain fuzzy computational capabilities,
affording the designer a quicker time to market than would otherwise be
possible for his or her fuzzy based device.

FCA technology is fast. An FCA based core, when running at 20 MHz, is capable
of performing over one million fuzzy rule evaluations per second. This
performance rate includes membership function evaluation, rule premise
evaluation, conclusion membership function composition and defuzzification. An
FCA core equivalent to the FC110 will run at least three times faster than the
FC110.

Major FCA features include:

o Resolution scalable from eight to thirty-two bits
  o Optimized rulebase format
o Fast execution of fuzzy rulebases
  o Defuzzification calculated in core
  o Flexible rulebase capabilities
o Several premise membership function representations including maps, points
    lists, a-direct in, a-direct out, quadratic S, p, and Z-functions
o Fuzzy operations AND, OR and NOT
o Fast turn around time on custom chips which have an FCA core
o Full evaluation of fuzzy rulebase
  o Self test ability

Since FCA is a technology rather than a fixed core library, Togai InfraLogic
can tailor a core to fit a particular customer application. If you choose not
to design your own fuzzy based ASICs, TIL offers a mature in-house ASIC design
capability.

FCA is integrated with TIL's development tools via the FCA Development System
for your FCA based fuzzy ASICs. All TIL Development Systems interface directly
with TILShell+ (see Figure 5. [not present in this text-only version]) Please
contact us if you are interested in more information about FCA.
