Dead Icons for the Mac

These Macintosh icons were created by Eric Sheehan. The icons are in a BinHex-encoded self-extracting archive, or you can download the sample GIF.

Eric's installation instructions are as follows:

Hello!

The Grateful Dead icons are encoded in hqx format. To use them you must decode the file with DeHQX, Stuffit Expander, Stuffit Lite or anything else that will decode .hqx encryption. The above mentioned decoders and others are available at stable anonymous FTP archive sites. After the file is decoded you will have a self extracting archive that holds 31 empty folders that depict some image related to the Dead.

You can use the folders as is or paste the images on other folders using the Finders Get Info box. Select the GD icon of choice, choose Get Info from the File menu, click once on the picture in the left corner of the Get Info box. Choose copy from the Edit menu. Click once to select the target folder or file that is to receive the GD icon, choose Get Info from the File menu, click once on the picture in the left corner of the Get Info box. Choose paste from the Edit menu. That's it. It is possible to put GD icons into print dialog boxes, spell checker dialogs or system alert messages using ResEdit. Mail me for instructions if you are interested in doing that. Enjoy.

Feel free to use these icons in any way you wish, just send me an e-mail and tell me how you like them.

Take it easy,
Eric Sheehan
