Prime Minister Ariel Sharon announced today Monday that he will convene the Likud Ministers next Monday to discuss the disengagement plan and brief them on his talks with the American delegates who will be coming to Israel this week
This meeting follows the request of Minister of Education Sharon Livnat
Four days ago Sharon met with Livnat and with HaIchud HaLeumi Chairman Minister Avigdor Liberman to talk about the disengagement plan
Sharon told the ministers that there is still no final plan and that he still hadnt decided the number of settlements to be evacuated in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank
Sharon and his bureau chief Dov Weisglass told reporters that they are waiting for the outcomes of their talks with the American administration to know what compensation Israel will get from the United States for the withdrawal and evacuation
Sharon said he is asking the US for recognition of certain settlement blocks that will be a part of Israel in any future arrangement Ariel Gush Ezion and Maale Adumim an agreement that Israel will not be asked to negotiate on the basis of an alternative plan and the denial of the Palestinian demand for the refugees right of return
Livnat supports a limited evacuation if Israel will be allowed to annex the settlement blocks in return
She told Sharon that she will decide where she stands on the matter only after the size of the planned evacuation and the size of the American compensation are revealed
Liberman who opposes the disengagement plan told Sharon that he thought he will not be able to get a majority for the plan in the government
