Description
Retrieve the red-colored balls from the ball-zone and return the balls to the end-zone.
Field Description:
- 4' by 8'
- Two-foot-wide End zone, three-foot-wide Ball zone, with a three-foot Neutral zone in between.
- Each zone is differentiated by a line of black tape.
- The course will be surrounded with cardboard walls. They will be as secure as possible
- Twenty-four
balls will be in the ball-zone. There will be an equal number of red
and blue balls. The balls are the NXT balls that are included in the
kits.
- There will be two balls per square foot, one red and one blue.
- In
each square foot there will be four ball placement positions, with the
two balls randomly placed on two of the four points. The balls will not
roll away because of tape circles on the floor. Note that the balls
will roll if tapped, but will not roll away on their own.
Grading/Rules:
For the competition:
Robots
must start completely inside the End zone, and will be allowed to run
for three minutes. The balls that are situated in the end-zone at the
three-minute mark count toward the team total (i.e. kicking the ball in
does not necessarily count if the ball rolls out).
Red balls are worth +1 point. Blue balls are worth -1 point.
For individual grading:
- Appears to be doing something intelligent (i.e., not just randomly moving around): 60 pts
- First ball in endzone is a blue ball: 20 pts
- First ball in endzone is a red ball: 40 pts
You will get two tries, and you can choose which score you want.
Note that it MUST be clear if a red ball or blue ball is first if you bring back two at once. If not, you will only
