[ For north-american users there exists a copy of this directory at
  ftp.cs.umanitoba.ca in the directory /pub/bibliographies. ]

This archive can also be accessed more conveniently via the WWW
using the URL

or
    ftp://<this.site>/<this.directory.path>/www/bibliography.html

if you are accessing a mirror site.

This directory tree contains bibliographies in BibTeX format, grouped
by the field of coverage. Most bibliography files (.bib) have a
corresponding file (.dsc) which gives some information on the field
of coverage, author and source location.

The bibliographies have been collected by more or less systematically
roaming the Internet and Usenet for bibliographies and converting all
files to BibTeX if necessary. Most of these bibliographies have been
already available to the general public, but they have been dispersed
all over the Internet and retrieval of information becomes very
difficult if one does not know where to look.

Therefore I hope that the bibliographies thus collected closely
represent the state of the art in publicly accessible bibliographies
as of today. Certainly I must have overlooked some, though, and I
would appreciate if you know of any bibliography (in some reasonable
format) which is not stored at this ftp site and let me know about it,
so that I can integrate it into this collection.

Every bibtex file is compressed with gzip, so please set the transfer
mode to binary before transferring any such file.

IMPORTANT:

ANY COMMERCIAL USE OF THE BIBLIOGRAPHIES IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. READ
ANY COPYRIGHT NOTICE ACCOMPANYING A BIBLIOGRAPHY FILE BEFORE USING
IT.
DO NOT DIRECT CORRECTIONS, UPDATES OR QUESTIONS TO ME BUT TO THE
ORIGINAL AUTHORS AND FOLLOW THEIR GUIDELINES IF DESCRIBED IN THE
HEADER OF THE BIBLIOGRAPHY OR AN ACCOMPANYING FILE WITH THE SAME
FILENAME STEM.
NOTE, THAT MANY BIBLIOGRAPHIES HAVE BEEN REFORMATTED AND ARE THUS NOT
VERBATIM COPIES OF THE ORIGINAL FILES. THIS MUST BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT
IF YOU ARE SENDING UPDATES TO THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR(S)
