Ziad Al Bawab

PhD Candidate, MS' 03, BE' 01

I am a Ph.D. candidate in the electrical and computer engineering department (ECE) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh, PA. My research interests are, in general, in the fields of speech processing and speech recognition.

My core academic background is in the areas of signal processing, pattern recognition and machine learning, and previously in computer networks.

The speech research field is quiet unique in the sense that it a multi-disciplinary science. My PhD thesis research at CMU focuses on incorporating mathematical models of the human speech production system into the current statistically-motivated automatic speech recognition systems.
