M78 in Orion
2003/1/30 21:33 EST. M78 is the hint of nebula at lower left around the close pair of stars. From Wagman observatory, Pittsburgh. Hazy weather, moderate light pollution. Imaged with Jaegers 5"/f5 wide field refractor, scopetronix 18mm eyepiece/adaptor, Nikon coolpix 995 camera, 31.2 seconds, F2.6, f8.2mm, ISO 800, noise reduction on. The frame is about 1 degree 23' x 1 degree. North at upper left, west at upper right.

Sketch, 1999/12/11, with 8" Dobsonian, 10mm eyepiece. Part of field of view. Observed from Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh. Two 10th stars in the nebula. Very faint, close to sky background.
