M57 the ring nebula
This photo of M57 the ring nebula is taken at Wagman observatory with the 20" Manka reflector telescope, 18mm Scopetronix eyepiece/adaptor and Nikon coolpix 995 digital camera. 2002/12/21 19:47 EST, 60 seconds, F2.6, f8.2mm, ISO 800, noise reduction on. Strong wind made the telescope shaking constantly. Why it is so red: the deep red lamps in the observatory was on! I didn't realize this until much later. North is at left, west up. The frame is 20'x15'.

Sketch negative, 1999/11/7, with 8" Dobsonian, 10mm eyepiece. 25' field of view. Observed from Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh. The ring is obvious. Greenish.
