A TV DRAMA DIGESTING METHOD
BASED ON THE MENTAL SIDE
OF THE CONTENT
ABSTRACT
The digital broadcast and the home server will provide huge amount of
video resources to the consumer. Then in this study, the method to
summarise TV drama based on the media track structure of the video is
proposed in order to provide the video summarization technology which
enables the audience to overview and select the most favorite TV
program fast and easily. In past studies, video summarisation has
almost been achieved by exploiting the physical structure of video or
tracking objects in the video. In this work, the importance of the
mental side of video content in the case of TV drama is mentioned and
the new video summarization method based on it is proposed. It
relates the media structure which consists of audio & visual tracks
(actor's utterances, BGM, background sound, effect sounds and shots)
to the psychological unfolding of video content, and enables to
extract the psychologically important portion computationally.
