Thanks for visiting my homepage. I currently live in Pittsburgh, PA, where I am pursuing my doctoral degree at the Carnegie Mellon University. I did my undergraduate study at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.  I hail from Calcutta, who I can legitimately claim as the cultural capital of India :).

For the KGP-ites, I am a Patellian and I belong the the class of 97. My wing was D-top east. Here are some nice pictures.

As far as living in Pittsburgh goes, I personally prefer big cities. So Pittsburgh is definitely not my type of place where I would like to live. But leading the
life of a graduate student has forced me to spend more time on thinking in solitude. This has revealed quite a few interesting aspects of life. Overall, I think it's a rewarding experience to carry along for the rest of my life when I finally leave Pittsburgh. I have also been able to  enjoy the company of some  nice friends. The closest ones I can name are Pragyan, Pushan, Dio, David, Dyuti.

As far as my hobbies go,  I usually like getting involved in physical activities; such as working out, hiking, rafting, climbing, playing soccer, racquet-ball, cricket etc. I also like watching tennis and hockey (check out Pittsburgh Penguins).

I like listening to almost all types of music. Although my knowledge in music is limited. I used to play Tabla once upon a time. I have also been a member of SPICMACAY.

I like driving my car, esp. for long trips. It's a 1987 BMW 325 (5speed manual, of course). Its engine was specifically made for the USA, known as eta engine. It was made to have high low-end torque and relatively lower HP than 325I model. But anyway, thanks to Jim Conforti, I have replaced the chip of the ECU that improved the power of the engine to 141 HP. I also replaced the exhaust to supersprint one. I think I have got HP rating of 160 now, with torque close to 200 ft-lb. It now runs sweeter than before, at the current mileage of 182,000.

Recently I have developed some interest in photography, I have bought a new digital camera. Check out the pictures page.

More incessant ramblings later, when I get some time.
