Link grammars have become the basis for several other research
projects. John Lafferty [11] proposes to build and
automatically tune a probabilistic language model based on link
grammars. The proposed model gracefully encompasses trigrams and
grammatical constraints in one framework. Andrew
Hunt
has developed a new model of
the relationship of prosody and syntax based on link grammars. He has
implemented the model, and in preliminary tests, the results are much
better than with other models. Tom Brehony
has modified our parser to detect the kinds of errors that
Francophones make when they write in English.
