VASC Seminar Announcement ========================= Date: Monday, 3/15/99 Time: 3:30-4:30 Place: Smith Hall 2nd Floor Common Area Speaker: Liang Zhao CMU Robotics Institute http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~lzhao Title: Stereo and Neural Network-Based People Detection Abstract: In this talk, I will present a real-time people detection system that uses a pair of moving cameras to detect both stationary and moving people in crowded environments. This is achieved through stereo-based segmentation and neural network-based recognition. Stereo-based segmentation allows us to extract objects from a changing background; neural network-based recognition allows us to identify people in various poses, shapes, sizes, clothing, and occlusion status. The experiments on a lot of urban street scenes demonstrate the feasibility of the approach in terms of people detection rate and frame processing rate.
