Title: Good Work AND Good Presentation: Is it too much to ask?

Abstract:

Many research organizations invite me to see and comment on their
research.  Many researchers there show me what they are up to.  Invariantly
(and strangely from the CMU-VASC centric view), I feel that other people
in our field and in other fields do a far better job than most of us here in
telling the research story.  Their systems seem to provide a better way to
visualize their theory, process, and results. To me, such a visualization
helps visitors to understand the research story (significance and
achievement), but more importantly the researchers themselves.  What's wrong
with us?  Or, are we doing the right thing by not spending time on display?
I will present my anecdotal experience and my proposal on what we
can/should do.
