Seán's Research

My research involves applying Relational Learning techniques to classifying hypertext. I proposed a thesis on this topic in November, 1997. I think the topic is exciting because it involves applying relational learning to a domain it hasn't really addressed before and it seems like there are large advances to be made by investigating it.

I'm part of the Text Learning group led by my advisor Tom Mitchell. Most of my work is related to the WebKB project.
The AAAI Spring Symposium on Machine Learning in Information Access had a nice broad cross section of work on learning and text.
