McCandless Career Development Professorships in the School of Computer Science
This chair is sponsored by the estate of Anna Loomis McCandless, a 1919 graduate of Margaret Morrison College at Carnegie Mellon who was known for her persistence and determination. She was the first female member of the Board of Trustees in 1967, was named a life trustee in 1973, and was the longest serving female trustee – having served on the board for 29 years. The Chair is awarded for a three-year term to a junior faculty member of outstanding accomplishment and talent.
