The summer weather in this area of Massachussetts can be quite warm. The temperature on July 1st of 1999 was in the upper 90s, although that was an unusual heat wave. Temperatures in the upper 80s are much more common. Below are some links to the weather channel's information regarding the area.

Remember that this is a holiday weekend, so travel times may vary widely.

Local to Stoughton and Taunton:	Get good ice cream at the Crescent Ridge Dairy, very near the church and not far from hotel. Visit the Kendall Whaling Museum, in Sharon, very close to Stoughton, about a half-hour from Taunton. Silver City Galleria, near the intersection of Routes 24 and 140 - a short drive from the Taunton Holiday Inn. Visit Borderland State Park just outside of Stoughton.
Boston: Downtown is a 45 minute drive with good traffic. Parking is not the best, but there is a decent transit system, called the T. We suggest getting on the Red Line at Quincy Adams, which is an exit off of Rte 128 south of the city. It takes two tokens to get in to town, and two to get back out.	Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market Freedom Trail, including the Old North Church USS Constitution Museum of Science New England Aquarium Harvard Square, in Cambridge Newbury Street Go to the top of the John Hancock Observatory. Take a Boston Duck Tour. Visit the Museum of Fine Arts.
Also in Massachussetts:	Visit New Bedford, with its whaling history, a half-hour or so from Taunton. Cape Cod - well over an hour from Stoughton or Taunton. On the holiday weekend, traffic will be enormously heavy. Walden Pond, in Concord - about an hour from Stoughton and Taunton. State Parks in Massachussetts. Forests and campgrounds in Massachussetts. Visit Plymouth, where there is Plymouth Plantation, and other Pilgrims tourist sites and other attractions. About a half hour from Taunton, although this is near Cape Cod, and traffic will be heavy. Salem, historic colonial town, known for the witch trials - about an hour away from Stoughton. Massachussetts Tourism Office.
Rhode Island:	Visit Newport and the mansions there - about an hour from Taunton. Providence. Downtown is about a half hour from Taunton. Visit the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence - about 50 minutes from Stoughton or Taunton.
