1994 WORLD TRANSPUTER CONGRESS (WTC '94) CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS The World Transputer Congress '94 is being held in the Villa Erba, Cernobbio, Lake Como, Italy from 5 to 7 September 1994. The wide ranging Tutorial Programme will be held on the 3 and 4 September at the same location. The Conference, Tutorials and Exhibition will offer delegates an opportunity to listen to and interact with leading individuals in the field of transputer-based parallel processing and see the latest parallel processing products, not exclusively transputer-based from the leading suppliers. The Keynote and Invited Speakers this year include Professor David May FRS (Inmos), Professor G S Stiles (Utah State University), Professor Marzano (University of Rome),Dr. R W Dobinson (CERN) and Professor S Noguchi (Tohoku University, Japan). 66 submitted papers from authors worldwide, covering applications, systems and theory, will be presented in a number of parallel streams. The event is sponsored by The Transputer Consortium, SGS-Thomson, the Commision of the European Union (CEU) and the Italian Transputer User Group (ItTUG). The CEU sponsorship is in the form of an award through the Human Capital and Mobility (Euroconferences) Programme. This award will allow us to support the attendance of some 40 young European reasearchers at WTC '94. Please note there are significant discounts available on delegate fees for both the Conference and Tutorials if you register by 7 July. Draft Conference and Tutorial Programmes, Registration and Accommodation Booking Forms, and further information on WTC '94 can be obtained by contacting: Dr Mike Jane TTC Coordinator Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Chilton Didcot Oxon OX11 0QX TEL: 0235 445408 Fax: 0235 445893 email: mrj@inf.rl.ac.uk 1994 WORLD TRANSPUTER CONGRESS (WTC '94) - Conference Program ------------------------------------------------------------- The 1994 WORLD TRANSPUTER CONGRESS (WTC '94) is sponsored by The Transputer Consortium (TTC), the Italian Transputer User Group (ItTUG), the World occam and Transputer User Group (WoTUG), SGS-THOMSON Microelectronics and the Commission of European Union. The event is being organised by TTC, ItTUG and the Italian Congress organiser, SMAU. OBJECTIVES * to present 'state-of-the-art' research on all aspects of parallel computing based upon communicating process architectures * to provide a world audience gathering from Industry, Commerce and Academia, with a forum for the free exchange of ideas, criticism and information * to establish and encourage an understanding of the new software and hardware technologies enabled by the transputer, especially the new T9000 processor and C104 packet router from INMOS, the parallel DSP engines (TMS320Cxx) from Texas Instruments and the iWARP device from Intel * to promote an awareness of how transputer technologies may be applied and their advantages over other sequential and parallel processors The conference themes include: industrial applications, graphics and image processing, programme environments, evaluation, real time control, communications, simulation, languages, fault tolerance, tools, systems programming, algorithms and operating systems. Exhibitors will be giving short presentations on their current products and future plans. FORMAT The Conference will have a number of Plenary Sessions, with Keynote and Invited speakers. The final Plenary Session will include an open Panel Session. Submitted papers will be presented in three Paralllel Streams. All papers will be presented in English. The Conference Proceedings will be published by IOS Press in their Transputer and Occam Engineering Series. These will be available to delegates when they register.
