CALL FOR PAPERS FOR THE SESSION ON Applications of Object Oriented Technology to Parallel Computing International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Processing Techniques and Applications (PDPTA'97) June 30-July 2, 1997 Las Vegas, Nevada, USA TECHNICAL SESSION ON APPLICATIONS OF OBJECT ORIENTED TECHNOLOGY TO PARALLEL COMPUTING Parallel applications out of several domains such as numerical computation, simulation and image processing gain more and more importance. Nevertheless, to develop a successful product on the software market, not only scientific aspects such as speedup, but also software aspects such as reliability, security, reusability and maintainability have to be considered. Although object oriented technology has demonstrated its potential to aid software developers to realize these tasks for ``conventional'' applications, the parallel computing community has just started to use ``OO''. The special session on Applications of Object Oriented Technology to Parallel Computing is planned to cover different aspects of applying object oriented technology to parallel computing. Using industry-relevant object oriented technology for parallel computing will be in the center of interest, but contributions concerning new concepts and research results regarding object oriented technology for parallel computing are also welcome. Topics of interest include: - using OO-middleware (CORBA, OLE/COM/DCOM etc.) as a platform for parallel applications - application of object development methods (Booch, OMT, etc.) to parallel computing - design patterns (master-slave, etc.) for parallel applications - OO-frameworks for parallel computation - specific extensions to existing systems/methods with respect to parallel computing SUBMISSION OF PAPERS: To submit an original research paper, send your complete manuscript (not to exceed 12 single-spaced pages of text using point size 11 type) TO THE SESSION CHAIR. References, figures, tables, etc. must be included in the 12 pages. Electronic submissions are encouraged and should be sent to schneken@informatik.tu-muenchen.de. Electronic submissions must contain the following header information in ASCII form: title, author name(s), abstract, postal address, e-mail address, and telephone and fax numbers. The header should be followed by the postscript version of the complete manuscript (including title, author's name, affiliation, and abstract). EVALUATION PROCESS: Papers will be evaluated for originality, significance, clarity, and soundness. Each paper will be refereed by at least two researchers in the area. PUBLICATION: The conference proceedings will be published by CSREA Press. The proceedings will be available at the conference. IMPORTANT DATES: February 12, 1997 : Draft papers due April 8, 1997 : Notification of acceptance May 19, 1997 : Camera-Ready papers & Preregistration due SESSION CHAIR ADDRESS: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Thomas Schnekenburger | Mail: Inst. fuer Informatik | Orleansstr. 34 Institut fuer Informatik | D-81667 Muenchen Technische Universitaet Muenchen | GERMANY ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Phone: (089)48095-150, Fax: (089)48095-160 e-mail: schneken@informatik.tu-muenchen.de http://wwwpaul.informatik.tu-muenchen.de/personen/schneken.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CONFERENCE: http://wwwpaul.informatik.tu-muenchen.de/personen/schneken/pdpta.html
