The previous Conferences Transputers'92 and Transputers'94 focused on the study of Transputers and their applications. >From the networks of transputers to the networks of workstations the bridge is easily crossed. We were already in the area of parallelism and dis tribution. We keep this area and extend to Networks and Telecommunications. This extension is motivated by the following fact: Because of the competition, operators and manufacturers try to produce Telecom networks - with high performance and - with many services That is why parallelism and distributed systems are very important in Telecom networks Thus the objective of Tdp96 is to acquaint both the engineer and the researcher with the state of the art and prospects for Telecommunications, Networks, Distributed and Parallel machines and their applications. We will focus our efforts along the two following complementary lines. - Specific use of parallel or distributed machines for Telecommunications, Mobile Communication Systems, Multimedia. - General presentation of new results in research and/or applications in Parallelism and Distribution. *** SUGGESTED TOPICS *** Papers to be presented should make a significant and/or original contribution to the scientific and industrial communities in one or more of the following areas (this list is not exhaustive) Telecommunications Multimedia servers Parallel processing of animated images, fixed images, sound Mobile communication systems Cooperative work Teleconference Tele-teaching Distributed computer-assisted drawing Networks Network architecture and performances Network protocols Parallel and distributed applications image analysis and synthesis numerical computing real time, process control robotics Algorithms for parallelism complexity load balancing, process migration Parallel architectures and operating systems massively parallel network of processors programming environment virtual environments Modeling methodologies mathematical resolution simulation and measurements *** INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS *** English is the official language of this conference. This is a truly unique conference site, equipped with first-rate modern facilities, and one which lends itself remarkably well to the development of new ideas, the comparison of experiences, and meetings among people. Located near the city of Cagliari, the area is easily accessible by plane from Munich, Paris, Milan, Rome and other italian cities.
