Bonn ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The PARCELLA series is a traditional forum for discussing models of parallel computation with existing and future parallel processing technologies in both hardware and software. It forms an excellent basis for exchanging ideas and initializing steps forward into a future broad scoped East-West cooperation in a unified Europe. The PARCELLA conference series started in 1982. PARCELLA has been an important bridge at a time when cooperation between scientists from West and East was considerably impeded by political confrontation between different systems. Those barriers have vanished, but other emerged. The results of the PARCELLA 96 will contribute to special European efforts in advanced HPCN technologies. PARCELLA will be open for dialogue with industrial representatives to discuss the problems of academic/industrial cooperation. Events * PARCELLA '96 will be a single session conference. * TUTORIALS in Optical Computing and Parallelization techniques on hetero geneous clusters will be offered. * A combined POSTER and VENDOR SESSION will be arranged for prototypes and products in the field of parallel machines and large size scientific projects. * A FORUM International cooperation in HPCN: Approaches, experience, promotion and funding will complement the Conference Sessions. Call for Papers Authors are invited to submit full papers presenting new results of current research and development activities. Each submission is expected to categorize the approaches taken, the results, as well as a description of possible application areas. Full papers (12 pages) with 4 copies each are to be submitted to the organization chair. All submissions are to be accompanied by a separate coverpaper containing the list of names of all authors, their addresses, the title and an abstract of 12-15 lines. Call for Project Presentations Representatives of large-scale and joint projects are invited to submit papers presenting a summary of the objectives and results of the entire project. Extended abstracts of the intended contributions (5 pages) with 4 copies each are to be submitted to the organization chair. All submissions are to be accompanied by a separate cover page containing the list of names of all authors, their addresses and the person responsible for the submission. Topics of interest: 1. Models of parallel computation: Cellular automata and homogeneous structures, neural networks, systolic arrays, synchronous and asynchronous computation, recursive and iterative machines, distributed and heterogeneous systems, ATM protocols and interconnection networks. 2. HPCN systems technology: Data driven architectures, portable software platforms, optical computing and interconnection networks, networks for parallel computers, fault-tolerant computing, neurocomputing and connectionism. 3. Simulation and design in key HPCN industrial and embedded applications: Environmental modeling, computational fluid dynamics, molecular modeling, seismic processing, reservoir modeling, chemistry, biology and medicine, chip simulation, imaging processing and modeling, computer vision, automotive systems, crash analysis and EM, signal processing and analyzing, program packages and problem solving environments tools for simplification of parallel programming and for supporting scientific computations. Mapping strategies from and to models. 4. Parallel languages, compiler technology, parallelizing compiler techniques, load distributing and load balancing, parallel debugger tools. Preparation directives The contributions are to be prepared as an ASCII file, preferably with the macro language LATEX. The corresponding file should also be submitted on a diskette or via E-mail. LATEX and supporting files will be provided as public domain soft- ware on a WWW-server (at GFaI-Site). All submissions will be reviewed by the Program Committee. List of deadlines Submission of papers and registration forms December 31, 1995 Acceptance/Rejection of papers April 30, 1996 Final Program June 15, 1996 Awards The Program Committee will award a prize for the best joint contribution of scientists from the East and West. Cultural and social events are under preparation.
