HETEROGENEOUS COMPUTING WORKSHOP April 15,16 1996 Sheraton Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Parallel Processing CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: The 5th Heterogeneous Computing Workshop (HCW '96), sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Parallel Processing, will be held in conjunction with the 10th International Parallel Processing Symposium (IPPS '96), April 15-19, 1996, at the Shera- ton Waikiki in Honolulu, Hawaii. SYMPOSIUM: The 10th International Parallel Processing Sym- posium (IPPS '96) will be held April 15-19 at the Sheraton Waikiki in Honolulu, Hawaii. The symposium is sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Com- mittee on Parallel Processing in cooperation with ACM SIGARCH. IPPS '96 is a forum for engineers and scientists from around the world to present the latest research findings in all aspects of parallel processing. A full version of the Call for Papers for IPPS available at http://www.usc.edu/dept/ceng/prasanna/meetings/ipps/ippshome.html on the World Wide Web. WORKSHOP: This is the 5th Heterogeneous Computing Workshop. Heterogeneous Computing is the coordinated use of distributed resources to efficiently solve large-scale problems. Problem sizes of interest may require more resources than can efficiently be accessed within a single platform. Applications implemented on heterogeneous platforms achieve performance by + aggregating memory from distributed sources, + coordinating distinct data sources, + exploiting the affinity of tasks to diverse com- putational platforms or paradigms, and/or + coordinating distinct administrative domains. The 5th Heterogeneous Computing workshop will feature an invited address, submitted paper presentations, and a joint session with the Scheduling Workshop. Authors are invited to submit manuscripts that demonstrate original unpublished research in all areas of Heterogeneous Computing. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to: + Basic Models and Performance Measures + Efficient Resource Management Strategies + Transparent Mechanisms for Storing and Han- dling Data + System Interfaces and Programming Tools + Failure Resilience Strategies + "Proof of Concept" Application Implementations SUBMITTING PAPERS: All papers will be reviewed by the pro- gram committee. Please submit 12 copies of an extended abstract (not to exceed 10 double-spaced, single-sided pages) to: Francine Berman Department of Computer Science and Engineering 0114 U. C. San Diego La Jolla, California 92093 (619)5347029 (fax) berman@cs.ucsd.edu Indicate in your cover letter if your paper is appropriate for the joint session with the Scheduling workshop. In addition, please indicate if you are willing to have your paper included as a poster if it is not accepted as a paper presentation. Manuscripts MUST be received by January 12, 1996. Notification of review decisions will be mailed after February 20, 1996. Camera-ready papers will be due March 1, 1996. Proceedings will be available on the World-Wide Web and at the Workshop.
