Association for Computational Linguistics

The North American Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics (NAACL) will hold a conference entitled Language Technologies 2001 from June 2 through June 7, 2001 at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Language Technologies 2001 will bring together approximately 400 professionals from universities, industrial research laboratories, U.S. government agencies, and commercial ventures. A highlight of this year's conference will be the prominent role given to commercial sponsors and exhibitors, aimed at attracting the latest e-Business trends in the field. If you are a Web-oriented company involved in language technology, this conference will offer the single best opportunity for visibility and impact in this country in the year 2001.

On behalf of the NAACL, we would like to invite you to consider being a sponsor of Language Technologies 2001, and also to participate in the special commercial exhibits session to be held on June 6th.

Several companies among the leaders in the field contributed to last year's conference, including:

For Language Technologies 2001 we have already received sponsorship commitments from:

We need more leading organizations like yours to support Language Technologies 2001. Your contribution will help defray conference costs and provide special opportunities for students who otherwise would be unable to attend. In a real way, you will be investing in the future of language technology by supporting student travel and accommodations, student sessions, and other conference activities.

We have several levels of organizational sponsorship, including specific event sponsorships, which will serve to promote the success of the conference as well as publicize your leadership and commitment to language technology.

We would like to extend to your organization in particular an invitation to serve as a Gold Sponsor of Language Technologies 2001. A contribution of $10,000 will demonstrate the fact that your organization plays a principal role in the future of the science and technology of computational linguistics. At the same time, it will go a long way toward defraying the costs of the conference, thus making possible lower registration fees, more consideration of student participants, and enriched conference communications.

As a Language Technologies 2001 Gold Sponsor, your organization will receive benefits such as your company name and/or logo prominently displayed on:

Additional Gold Sponsor benefits include:

There are other categories of sponsorship available as well: for instance, the specific sponsorship of the opening reception, the banquet, or special meeting events, in which case sponsors are welcome to make a short welcoming speech at such events, as well as have special signage. We also offer Silver ($5,000 contribution) and Bronze ($1,000 contribution) categories of sponsorship. Please contact Kurt Godden (below) about these categories if you determine that the Gold Sponsor level does not suit your needs.

In addition to your participation as a Language Technologies 2001 sponsor, we hope that you will consider joining in the full day of commercial exhibits to be held on June 6th, the middle day of the conference. Your $750 exhibitor's fee (waived for the Gold and Silver sponsorship categories) includes skirted table space along with power and communications. The commercial exhibits events have been well attended in ACL history. They provide an excellent opportunity for exposure of your capabilities, and interchange with other organizations and research groups. We would especially like to encourage new startup companies engaged in language technology R&D to participate. Exhibitors will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

If you are interested in serving as a Language Technologies 2001 sponsor, please contact Kurt Godden by any of the means listed below. If you are interested in being an exhibitor, please contact Lynn Carlson, also listed below. If there is someone else in your organization who should receive this sponsorship message, please let us know by email.

The deadline for application for both sponsorship and exhibiting is (now) March 2, 2001.
