Through interactive activities and demonstrations, children will learn that the sound travels with vibrations and that all sounds travel at a certain frequency. Children will hit the tuning fork to create a sound with a set frequency. He/she will then place the tuning fork on the black trash bag. This causes the rice grains to dance (move up and down). Children will see that the reason rice grains are dancing is because of the sound waves created by the tuning fork. They will feel the tuning fork vibrate in their hands. This activity will be for children of age 10 or older.
