Description:

Spinning the top in the center not only acts as a top but also spins a magnet housed inside copper wire.  The spinning causes an electric current to flow through the wire which causes the train to go around the track.  Children can discover the relationship of magnetic power to electrical power.

 

Construction:

Clear plastic housing for the top which carries a heavy cylindrical magnet with wire wrapped around.  Spinning has contact point in center to distribute electrical current to power the train.

 

Construction cost:

Mold for the spinning top housing.

Copper wire and heavy cylindrical magnet.

Track and train.

 

Durability & Safety:

          Since the top is a separate piece there is the danger it will be lost.  This is why it is for older children who would under more about taking care of their toys.  The train would be fix to the track so it couldn’t get lost.
