Toy Principle:
This
toy deals with the concepts of work and pressure. The child learns that the toy will not operation without the
input of work. The concept of pressure
is also explored through the use of the pump, which uses suction to transfer water
in a fun and entertaining way.

How it Works:
The
pedal blaster is a pedal powered water gun.
The water gun must first be attached to a water reservoir by means of
the suction tube. Parents may be needed
to assist in this step. The child then
sits in the seat and pedals the on the bike pedals. This turns a rotary pump, which draws water from the reservoir up
into the nozzle. Water shoots out of
the nozzle in a spray-like fashion. The
child can direct the spray by turning the handled on the nozzle. The Seating and pedal assembly are
adjustable to accommodate various sized children. The frame is also collapsible to allow easy storage. Once again parental assistance may be
required.
The frame of the
pedal blaster will be constructed of lightweight aluminum and with molded foam
seat cushions. The pedal and pump
apparatus will be enclosed to prevent interference. The flow rate of water out of the nozzle will be strong enough to
project a reasonable distance, but will not be strong enough to cause harm to
an individual. This toy is also
recommended for outside use.
