NAME: Space Coaster

ESTIMATED COST: Manufacturing cost:$75, MSRP: $125

DESCRIPTION: The Space Coaster build-it-yourself kit has all the parts necessary to make a four foot tall working roller coaster! The pieces are identical to those used by K'NEX to build their roller coaster. However, the Space Coaster differs by using a replica of the space shuttle as the car, as well as increasing the slope of the traditional incline to make the "takeoff" vertical! During its' ride from start to finish, the shuttle will travel through all four phases of space flight including vertical takeoff, orbit, descent, and landing. This teaches children about both physics and space flight, and lets their imagination go wild! Expansion sets (sold separately) allow the shuttle to fly to other reaches of our solar system, such as Mars and Jupiter, and connect easily to the existing track. The space coaster is educational, and will provide hours of fun for the whole family!

INTERACTION: This toy is for ages 10+, and requires some adult supervision to build.

DURABILITY & SAFETY: Because many small pieces are included, this toy is not for infants. Young children (ages 3-10) may have a difficult time assembling the Space Coaster. Therefore, it is recommended that only those aged 10+ use this toy.

CONSTRUCTION COST: Until we are able to make our own plastic pieces, we will create each Space Coaster by buying parts from K'NEX, and adding a space shuttle. It is estimated that this will cost between $50 and $75 per unit.
