The Interactive Storybook is similar to
the standard fare of books found in the public libraries but it is different.
Using current technology producing laptops and using popular books and education
tools, the Interactive Storybook can entertain as well as educate children.
Below are the following proposed features of the Interactive Storybook:
- Three screens: two informational screens and one main screen
- Keyboard (so deaf children can still use the product)
- Full motion video and stereo sound
- Voice recognition (instead of typing in answers to questions, the child
can say it)
- Nonlinear stories (different story lines like the Choose Your Own Adventure
books)
- Educational (learn ABCs, math, reading, grammar)
- Upgradeable modules (increase the difficulty of the educational material
or get new stories and games)
The physical principle underlying the
Interactive Storybook is that the child can learn basic educational skills
so that theycan be successful in school as well as expand the child imgination.
The agegroup is projected to be between the ages 5 to 12 but using the upgradeable
modules can make it possible for older people to enjoy and learn from it.
I got this idea from remembering what I liked when I was small and combining
them together. I liked reading the Choose Your Own Adventure books as well
as playing Number Munchers. Adding these two together and coming up with
more ideas, I created this product.
