On the first day of class, we played many different design games. Each of the games had its own point, but all of them were designed as ice breakers.
With each different activity, the students felt themselves growing "closer" through the silly things they were doing.
For instance, I do not like "performing" in front of others. I have no problems talking during classes, but getting up in front of the class is not something that I like to do. I do, however, like to shout out answers. So games like Red Rover were designed for people like me. I was forced to mime an activity when I would blurt out what someone else was doing. By the end of the class, we were acting out little skits for the rest of the class, something I would never have done.
Look here for a complete description of all the games we played.
