Toy:
Magnetic
mosaic tiles can be arranged to form pictures.
This can be used in two ways.
First, the child may purchase a set of tiles which has a picture drawn
on it. They would then assemble them
much like one does a puzzle. The alternative
is a set of tiles which are colored but with no picture. The child may them arrange the tiles to make
a pattern or a picture of their own.
Concept:
Magnetic mosaics teach children the basic principles of magnetism. Each tile has two poles, allowing them to be attracted or repelled to a magnetic surface and to each other depending on their orientation.
Durability:
The tiles are naturally magnetic, so they will not lose their magnetism. They must be used carefully, so the picture on each tile is not scratched or damaged. Each set of tiles will range any where from $15-10, at a construction cost less than $10.
Safety:
Magnetic mosaics are not for children under the age of 6. Young children can swallow the tiles. The package for magnetic mosaics will contain a warning that the set should not be stored near electronics such as computers.
